I provide tuning, voicing, regulation, and piano repair services within a thirty-mile radius of Raleigh - primarily Wake and Durham counties.
I use both aural skills and advanced computer technology to deliver a quality tuning. Tuning technology has progressed far beyond tuning forks or spinning wheels. State-of-the-art technology now includes a visual spectrum analysis of a note's wave form - making the wave shape, phase relationship, and purity or distortion visible. With this technology, I can easily change the normal 6:3 tuning in the bass to an 8:4 for a deeper sound (possibly desirable in a large grand) and change a 4:2 tuning in the treble to a 8:2 for a brighter sound, while maintaining an offset if needed and still compensating for the piano's unique inharmonicity characteristics. I combine this technology with aural skills (listening to octaves, fourths, and fifths) to check my interpretation of the technology while fine-tuning your piano.
